Make a Prayer

Composed By – Sami Yusuf

Lyrics:
O People!
In a hut made of tin and clay
A small boy dreams away
Of clean water and a meal a day
And not to fear mines as he plays each day
O People!
Somewhere dark and out of the way
AIDS has found yet another prey
To save his life he just couldn’t pay
Tell me what we’re going to do
For our brothers in Durban,
For our sisters in Darfur,
Show me what we’re going to do
Are we just going to sit there,
Nice and cowzy on our armchairs?
Will we not even make a prayer (2x)?
You might ask yourself:
“Why should I help these people?”
They’ll tell you why:
“We’re not so different from you.
We have dreams just like you,
But they were buried with the
Bodies of our loved ones.”
O People!
Are we dead, dumb, and blind?
What is going through our minds?
Don’t we care for the rest of mankind?
O People!
We claim to love peace and justice
Why do we preach but we don’t practice?
Let’s help them out of this darkness
Tell me what we’re going to do
For our brothers in Ethiopia,
For our sisters in Rwanda,
Show me what we’re going to do,
Are we just going to sit there
Nice and cozy on our armchairs?
Will we not even make a prayer (4x)?

Make a Prayer (Percussion Version) – Sami Yusuf

‘The 99 Names’ is an evocative meditation on the divine Names so familiar to Muslims throughout the world.
And just as sacred chants of other mystical traditions resonate beyond the borders of
their particular paths, the mesmerising sound of this single guides any who
listen to a mindful state of heightened awareness. Its simple, chant-like melody is graced
by celestial backing vocals and dazzling percussion.
The immense significance of the profound secrets and wisdom in the 99 Names* can never be overstated.
Each one is a key that unlocks a mystery. While scholars and sages and poets
have plumbed their infinite depths for centuries, still the true fullness of their
inner meaning waits to be revealed within the individual heart.
* The Names in this recording number 98 with Allah as the 99th Name.

The 99 Names – Sami Yusuf

DESCRIPTION:
‘Karitas’ is a spellbinding new composition by acclaimed British musician Sami Yusuf.
It was recorded live at the Holland Festival in June 2022 and delivered with
exceptional artistry by Cappella Amsterdam,
the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra & the composer’s own ensemble.
The work moves with intelligence and fluidity from Western choral music
to Middle Eastern modes to the cadence of Andalusia.
Modes traverse boundaries from the distinctive Bayati Shiraz
and Rast maqams to the aeolian. Subtly flowing rhythms & improvisation,
entrancing solos on the Chinese erhu, oud, ney, violin,
underscore the depth of the dialogue among traditions taking place here.
Lyrics by Fuzuli, a 16th c. Azerbaijani writer known as a poet of divine love,
are echoed here in the words of the 12th c. German mystic Hildegard of Bingen.
Intoxicatingly beautiful mawwals take verses from
the Andalusian poet Abul Hasan al-Shushtari (13th c.) and
Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulsi, a 17th c. Syrian writer.

Lyrics:
THIRSTY AS A DESERT’S PAIN
I MISS YOUR TOUCH LIKE POURING RAIN
WHEN CLOUDS COME IN THEY CRY ALL NIGHT
AND GIVE ME TEARS TO FILL MY EYES
THE FOOTPRINTS THAT YOU LEFT HAVE STAYED
ABOVE THE SAND BENEATH THE WAVES
LONG AFTER TIME HAS LET THEM GO
I’LL WAIT FOR TIDES TO GUIDE YOU HOME
DIZZY AS THE TEA I BREW
MY MIND STIRS ROUND WITH THOUGHTS OF YOU
AND LIKE THE MELTING SUGAR CUBES
YOU DISAPPEARED AND LEFT ME TO
YOUR FACE AND FORM IS ALL I SEE
IN SILHOUETTES OF SCOLDING STEAM
AT NIGHT THE KITCHEN CANDLES GLOW
AND SHINE A LIGHT TO GUIDE YOU HOME
(AZERI)
KÜÇƏLƏRƏ SU SƏPMİŞƏM
I HAVE THROWN WATER INTO THE STREET
YAR GƏLƏNDƏ TOZ OLMASIN
MY BELOVED IS COMING, SO THERE MUST NOT BE DUST
ELƏ GƏLSİN, ELƏ GETSİN
LET HER COME, LET HER GO
ARAMIZDA SÖZ OLMASIN
BUT LET THERE NOT BE WORDS BETWEEN US
FAR AWAY AND ALL ALONE
I TRUST IN STARS TO GUIDE YOU HOME

I wonder why you and me fight each other
Don’t you see the similarities between us?
Take a minute and see yourself in the mirror
You look like me, those eyes, lips, you can’t deny
Have you thought about why we look the same?
Why we feel the same?
Don’t tell me it’s by chance
Oh, you’re my brother, you’re my sister
We’re one big family
Oh, you’re my brother, you’re my sister
Just one big family
It doesn’t matter if you live far away from me
You feel I feel, you bleed I bleed, you cry and I cry
We sleep and dream
Sometimes we’re sad sometimes we’re happy
You breathe I breathe
We love, walk, talk and we smile
Have you thought about why we look the same?
Why we feel the same?
Don’t tell me it’s by chance
Oh, you’re my brother, you’re my sister
We’re one big family
Oh, you’re my brother, you’re my sister
Just one big family, family
I care about you and i wish you could realize
There’s no difference between us two
we’re part of one family
No matter how far you are are
And even if we don’t know each other
Oh, you and me, me and you, we are one
Oh, you’re my brother, you’re my sister

“Let It Go” Lyrics:-
Life can be so hard sometimes
Break you up inside
All you want to do is cry
Shut the door and hide
Don’t surrender to what was
Put your faith in what will be
Everyday is a brand new start
Chorus:
Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go
Giving up should never be
Something you decide to do
Wipe the tears from your cheek
God knows what you’re going through
So don’t surrender to what was
Put your faith in what will be
Everyday is a brand new start, yeah
CHORUS
I know it’s hard but believe and keep trying
And it will be okay
‘Cause in your heart is the strength to survive it
You will be okay
And in no time like the sun you’ll be shining
Just let it go away
CHORUS
Let it go away, let it go
Oh, let it go

LYRICS:
The high heavens exalt Your Name,
from which all names take their grace.
Timeless glories mark out Your reign,
from Your lofty dwelling place.
Understanding, bounteous One,
eternal gift of plenty;
omniscient, just and divine,
our Judge in all Your glory.
سبحت باسمك المجيد السماء
وتسامت باسمك الأسماء
يا عظيماً يا حليماً وفرداً
من عطاياك دامت الآلاء
You give breeze to the wheeling birds
Sustained high up in the sky,
as You nurture us here on earth.
In Your warmth we glorify.
You sent messengers to us, Lord,
Revealing Your word and light.
You taught the scale above the sword,
Your justice is all men’s right.
عندها نرتجي من الله عفواً
حين يأتي محمد واللواء
فاجعل المصطفى شفيعاً وكن لي
غافراً ذاك مطلبي والرجاء
We seek the mercy of God.
I beg, Prophet, speak for me!
Led by Mohammed’s great banner,
Your forgiveness is my plea.

Lyrics:
We keep telling each other
That this day will be
Will be the last and tomorrow
We all can go home free
And all this will finally end
Palestine tomorrow will be free
Palestine tomorrow will be free
No mother, no father to wipe away my tears
That’s why I won’t cry
I feel scared but I won’t show my fears
I keep my head high
Deep in my heart I never have any doubt
That Palestine tomorrow will be free
Palestine tomorrow will be free
I saw those rockets and bombs shining in the sky
Like drops of rain in the sun’s light
Taking away everyone dear to my heart
Destroying my dreams in a blink of an eye
What happened to our human rights?
What happened to the sanctity of life?
And all those other lies?
I know that I’m only a child
But is your conscience still alive?
I will caress with my bare hands
Every precious grain of sand
Every stone, and every tree
‘Cause no matter what they do
They can never hurt you
‘Cause your soul will always be free
Palestine tomorrow will be free
Palestine tomorrow will be free

Lyrics:
I was so far from You
Yet to me You were always so close
I wandered lost in the dark
I closed my eyes
To all the signs You put in my way
I walked every day
Further and further away from You
Allah You brought me home
I thank You with every breath I take
Chorus:
Alhamdu Lillah, Alhamdu lillah
All praise is to Allah, All praise is to Allah
I never thought about
All the things You had given to me
I never thanked You once
I was too proud
To see the truth
And prostrate to You
Until I took the first step
And that’s when You opened the doors for me
And now, Allah, I realise what I was missing
By being far from You
Chorus
Allah I want to thank You
I want to thank You for all the things that You’ve done
You’ve done for me through all my years I’ve been lost
You guided me from all the ways that were wrong
Indeed You gave me hope
Oh Allah I want to thank You
I want to thank You for all the things that You’ve done
You’ve done for me through all my years I’ve been lost
You guided me from all the ways that were wrong
I want to thank You
For bringing me home

“Mercy” Lyrics:-
I’ve got that feeling in my gut
Because Lord I know that I messed up
And no one, yes no one would hear my call
These last few years a living hell
I feel so lost though I can’t tell
If no one, yes no one would feel my fall
And so my only hope is:
Chorus
Mercy ya Rahman
Mercy ya Raheem
Rabbee have mercy on me!
Tired of this never ending fight
Can’t seem to do anything right
And I wonder how much my heart can bend
Dark thoughts are sinking in my head
I’m wide awake but I feel dead
And I wonder, yes I wonder when will it’ll end
And so my only hope is:
Mercy ya Rahman
Mercy ya Raheem
Rabbee have mercy on me!
I’m feeling nothing left to give this world, so cold and hardened
Lord, I know you’re closer than the my veins and with the broken hearted
Mercy ya Rahman
Mercy ya Raheem
Rabbee have mercy on me!
Yeah!
Mercy ya Rahman!
Mercy ya Raheem!
Rabbee have mercy on me!

Sari Gelin:
Sari Gelin is a famous Azeri folk song hugely popular around the world, particularly in Turkey,
Azerbaijain and the Persian speaking countries (Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan) as well as Uzbekistan,
Greece, Bosnia and Serbia to name just a few. There are many traditional versions of this hauntingly emotional melody.
This is our humble attempt at creating an English version of this beautiful love song
based loosely on translations from the original variations.

lyrics:
I fight for a love
Knowing it can’t be won
Sent from a light above
Child of our golden Sun
Sari Gelin
I reach for hands
Knowing they can’t be held
Cursed by words I can’t tell
Broken under your spell
Sari Gelin
And like a rose
Turning in to thorns
My love was taken
Back to the light above
What can I do, my love?
Child of our Golden Sun
Sari Gelin.
A beating drum
Searches on for your song
Echoes will carry on
Wondering where you’ve gone
Sari Gelin
Is that your voice
Caught in the mountain air?
Leading me to nowhere
Drifting in silent prayer
Sari Gelin
And like a rose
Turning in to thorns
My love was taken
Back to the light above
What can I do, my love?
Child of our Golden Sun
Sari Gelin
Saçın ucun hörməzlər Gülü sulu dərməzlər Sarı gəlin
Saçın ucun hörməzlər Gülü sulu dərməzlər Sarı gəlin
Bu sevda nə sevdadır Səni mənə verməzlər Neynim aman, aman Neynim aman, aman Sarı gəlin
Back to the light above
What can I do, my love?
Child of our Golden Sun
Sari Gelin

When I learnt for the first time
I know my heart wasn’t prepared
For just how much You’d mean to me
But Allah, how I know now
That a life without You there
Is like a bird without its wings
You are The One
In my life
Always right there beside me
I’m so blessed You’re The One
In my life
Always right there to guide me
Giving me strength
You’re The One
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I’m not saying I’m perfect
I haven’t read all the pages
But I know that You’re The One
It’s the way that You turn mess
Into a beautiful message
It’s You I place my trust upon
You are The One
In my life
Always right there beside me
I’m so blessed You’re The One
In my life
Always right there to guide me
Giving me strength
You’re The One
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Forever I won’t be afraid
With You right here I’ll be OK
‘Cause everything about You is the truth
Whenever I call out Your Name
Lift up my hands, bow down to pray
I feel so good, it’s all because of You
You are The One

I Only Knew Love | Barakah (Deluxe) – Sami Yusuf

Lyrics:
Allahumma salli ‘ala,
Sayyidina,
Muhammadin an-Nabiyyi al-ummiyyi,
Wa ‘ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim.
(O Allah, send your peace and blessings upon our Master Muhammad, the Unlettered Prophet, and upon his family and companions.)
O My Lord,
My sins are like
The highest mountain;
My good deeds
Are very few
They’re like a small pebble.
I turn to You
My heart full of shame,
My eyes full of tears.
Bestow Your
Forgiveness and Mercy
Upon me.
Ya Allah,
Send your peace and blessings
On the Final Prophet,
And his family,
And companions,
And those who follow him.

Light Upon Light ( Sami Yusuf – feat. A.R. Rahman)

Composed, produced and performed by Sami Yusuf
Words by Umar ibn Ali ibn al-Farid (d. 1234)
توزيع، إنتاج، أداء : سامي يوسف
كلمات : عمر بن علي بن الفارض
…..
LYRICS | كلمات العمل :
شربنا على ذكرِ الحبيبِ مدامة ً
In memory of the Beloved
We drank a wine
سَكِرْنا بها، من قبلِ أن يُخلق الكَرمُ
With which we had been drunk
Before the creation of the vine.
لها البدرُ كأسٌ وهيَ شمسٌ يديرها
The full moon was its cup.
While the wine was a sun passed round
هِلالٌ، وكم يبدو إذا مُزِجَتْ نَجمُ
By a crescent, which when mixed,
How many stars appear!
مولانا
Mawlana
ولولا شذاها ما اهتديتُ لحانها
If not for its fragrance,
I would never have been guided to its tavern.
ولو لا سناها ما تصوَّرها الوهمُ
If not for its radiance,
Imagination could never picture it,
ولم يُبْقِ مِنها الدَّهْرُ غيرَ حُشاشَة ٍ
Time preserved nothing of it, but a fading breath,
كأنَّ خَفاها، في صُدورِ النُّهى كَتْمُ
As if its being hidden in the breasts of the wise were concealed.
وفي سكرة ٍ منها ولو عمرَ ساعة ٍ
If you are drunk with it for but one hour,
تَرى الدَّهْرَ عَبداً طائِعاً، ولَكَ الحُكْمُ
You will see time an obedient slave at your command.
فلا عيشَ في الدُّنيا لمنْ عاشَ صاحياً
For there is no life in this world for one who lives sober;
ومنْ لمْ يمتْ سكراً بها فاتهُ الحزمُ
And one who dies not drunk from it,
Resolution has passed him by.

Masisondele, masisondele haha phila nocolo yelele
(Let us draw nearer to perfect peace in life)
Subhan’Allah, walhamdu lillah
(Glory be to Allah, and all praise be to Allah
La ilaha illa Allah, wa’Allahu Akbar

Or a hundred times or more
You’ll feel at peace inside

Chorus:
That’s the power of remembering Allah
It’s the best way to purify your heart
And know you will be loved by the Merciful One

LYRICS:
Let us not forget
Let us not forget
who we are, whence we came, where we shall go
Let us not forget
We have now fallen and forgotten who we are
Wandering on earth with no compass in hand
But we can remember
We can remember
Let us not forget that although cast in this lowly world
Let us not forget
Although blinded by veils of neglect and heedlessness
We are placed here on earth to remember
To remember
Who we really are as we make this journey of earthly life

“More Than Me And You” Lyrics:
I’m scared to death but I’m happy
I don’t know what to do
You came to me and said,
“Babe, guess what?! I think our dream’s finally coming true!”
A tiny gift from heaven
I can’t believe it’s real
A test for us to relish
this new love that we feel
Chorus:
And now our hearts are sealed together
And now our lives will change forever
I thank God for that tiny beating heart,
A love so true
I guess it’s gonna be more than me and you
I’ll take good care of your taste buds
And learn to count in weeks
While you keep you her warm from this worldly storm,
I’ll sing you both to a cozy sleep
A soul we’ll share between us
with His guidance from up above
There’s an angel growing,
And it’s got you glowing,
With noor from all His love
CHORUS
I’m counting my blessings from the moment that I met you
And patiently waiting for our dream to come true
It’s already written, so I prayed for you and me
And whatever happens : It’s Allah’s mercy
CHORUS x 2

My Believe in the Creator ( Peace be Upon Us – Album ) – Harmony Band

Lyrics: Bilal Hajji
Melody & Arrangement: Maher Zain
—
Lyrics:
I hear the flowers kind of crying loud
The breeze is sounding sad, oh no
Tell me when did we become so cold and empty inside
Lost our way long time ago
Did we really turn that blind?
We don’t see that we keep hurting each other no
All we do is just fight
Now we share the same bright sun
The same round moon
Why don’t we share the same love?
Tell me why not
Life is shorter than most had thought
Chorus:
Hold my hand
There are many ways to do it right
Hold my hand
Turn around and see what we’ve left behind
Hold my hand my friend
We could save the good spirit in me and you
For another chance
And let’s pray for the beautiful world
The beautiful world I share with you
Children seem like they’ve lost their smile
On the new bloody play grounds, oh no
How could we ignore heart breaking crying sounds
And we’re still going on like nobody really cares
And we just stopped feeling all the pain we cause
Like it’s a daily basic affair
Now we share the same bright sun
The same round moon
Why don’t we share the same love?
Tell me why not
Life is shorter than most had thought
Chorus
No matter how far I might be
I’m always going to be your neighbour
There’s only one small planet where to be
So I’m always going to be your neighbour
We cannot hide, we can’t deny
That we’re always going to be neighbours
Your neighbour, my neighbour, we’re neighbours
Chorus

lyrics:
Blessed is your face
Blessed is your name
My beloved
Blessed is your smile
Which makes my soul want to fly
My beloved
All the nights
And all the times
That you cared for me
But I never realised it
And now it’s too late
Forgive me
Now I’m alone filled with so much shame
For all the years I caused you pain
If only I could sleep in your arms again
Mother I’m lost without you
You were the sun that brightened my day
Now who’s going to wipe my tears away
If only I knew what I know today
Mother I’m lost without you
Music
أماهُ، أماهُ، يا أمي
(Mother… Mother… O my mother)
واشوقاه الي لقياكِ، يا أمي
(How I long to see O mother)
أمكَ، أمكَ، أمكَ أمكَ
(“Your mother, Your mother, Your mother”)
قول رسولك
(Is the saying of your Prophet)
في قلبي، في حُلُمي
(In my heart, in my dreams)
انتِ معي يا أمي
(You are always with me mother)
رُحتِ و تركتِني
(You went and left me)
يا نور عينيا
(O light of my eyes)
يا أنس ليليا
(O comfort of my nights)
رُحتِ و تركتِني
(You went and left)
من سواكِ يحضنني
(Who, other than you, will embrace me?)
من سواكِ يسترني
(Who, other than you, will cover me?)
من سواكِ يحرسني
(Who, other than you, will guard over me?)
عفوكِ أمي، سامحيني
(Your pardon mother, forgive me)

Make a Prayer – Sami Yusuf

Lyrics: Irfan Makki & Bara Kherigi
Melody: Irfan Makki & Maher Zain
Arrangement: Maher Zain
……
Waiting for the call – Lyrics:
Miles away, oceans apart
Never in my sight, but always in my heart
The love is always there, it will never die
Only growing stronger, a tear rolls down my eye
I’m thinking of the time
When the day will come
Standing there before You
Accept this Hajj of mine
Standing in Ihram
Making my Tawaf
Drinking blessings from Your well
The challenge of Safa and Marwa rekindles my Iman
Chorus:
O Allah I am waiting for the call
I’m praying for the day when I can be near the Ka’ba walls
I feel alive and I feel strong
I can feel Islam running through my veins
To see my Muslim brothers their purpose all the same
Greeting one another, exalting one true Name, Oh
I truly hope one day, everyone will get the chance
To be blessed with the greatest honour
Of being called to Your Noble House
Standing in Ihram
Making my Tawaf
Drinking blessings from Your well
The challenge of Safa and Marwa rekindles my Iman, Oh
Chorus
Labbayka Allahumma labbayk
Labbayka la sharika laka labbayk
Innal hamda wanni’mata laka wal mulk
La sharika laka labbayk
(Here I am, O Allah, here I am
Here I am, You have no partner. Here I am
Surely all praise, grace and dominion is Yours
No partner have You, here I am)
Chorus
Labbayka Allahumma labbayk
Labbayka la sharika laka labbayk
Innal hamda wanni’mata laka wal mulk
La sharika laka labbayk,

Lyrics:
TO SEE YOU SMILE
GIVE IT ALL AWAY
SIGHT OF YOUR SMILE
SO PURE AND WIDE
JUST LIKE THE MOON IN THE SKY
SHINING SO BRIGHT
YOU GIVE ME STRENGTH
YOU GIVE ME LIFE
GIVE EVERYTHING DO ANYTHING
WHATEVER IT’LL TAKE, TO SEE YOUR SMILE
I KNOW THAT I DON’T DESERVE YOU
AND MY LIFE HAS MEANING ‘CAUSE OF YOU
GIVE IT ALL AWAY TO SEE YOUR SMILE
I KNOW THAT I DON’T DESERVE YOU
EVERY SONG I SING HAS ALWAYS BEEN FOR YOU
GIVE IT ALL AWAY, TO SEE YOUR SMILE
SIGHT OF YOUR SMILE
SO PURE AND WIDE
AS YOU WELCOME ME BACK INTO YOUR ARMS
TELL ME I’VE WRONGED BUT IT’S ALRIGHT, IT’S ALRIGHT
THE ONLY THING I NEED IN LIFE IS YOU
SO LOST AND FRUSTRATED FAR FROM YOU
YOUR LOVE IS WHAT MAKES IT ALL WORTHWHILE
GIVE EVERYTHING AWAY, ANYTHING FOR YOUR SMILE
WHEN I’M AWAY
FAR FROM YOUR SIDE
I WATCH THE CLOUDS
COME AND GO IN THE COLD NIGHT SKY
THEY START TO PLAY
THEY COME TO LIFE
AND FROM THE DARK THE MOON APPEARS
JUST LIKE YOUR SMILE SHE SHINES HER LIGHT
I KNOW THAT I DON’T DESERVE YOU
AND MY LIFE HAS MEANING ‘CAUSE OF YOU
GIVE IT ALL AWAY TO SEE YOUR SMILE

Lyrics:
What goes through your mind?
As you sit there looking at me
Well I can tell from your looks
That you think I’m so oppressed
But I don’t need for you to liberate me
My head is not bare
And you can’t see my covered hair
So you sit there and you stare
And you judge me with your glare
You’re sure I’m in despair
But are you not aware
Under this scarf that I wear
I have feelings, and I do care
CHORUS:
So don’t you see?
That I’m truly free
This piece of scarf on me
I wear so proudly
To preserve my dignity…
My modesty
My integrity
So don’t judge me
Open your eyes and see…
“Why can’t you just accept me?” she says
“Why can’t I just be me?” she says
Time and time again
You speak of democracy
Yet you rob me of my liberty
All I want is equality
Why can’t you just let me be free?
For you I sing this song
My sister, may you always be strong
From you I’ve learnt so much
How you suffer so much
Yet you forgive those who laugh at you
You walk with no fear
Through the insults you hear
Your wish so sincere
That they’d understand you
But before you walk away
This time you turn and say:
But don’t you see?
That I’m truly free
This piece of scarf on me
I wear so proudly
To preserve my dignity
My modesty
My integrity
So let me be
She says with a smile
I’m the one who’s free
