بِفِكْرٍ شَغُوفٍ .. وقَلبٍ وَلُوعْ
With a passionate thought.. and a fond heart
سألتُكَ يا سَاكِنًا في الضُّلوعْ:
I asked you, dwelling in the ribs:
تُرَى يا صَدِيقيَ هل مِن رُجوعْ؟!
You see, my friend, is there any going back?!
ففي الرُّوحِ شَوقٌ بَدا ، وحَنينْ
In the soul there is longing, and nostalgia
حكَى عنكَ يا خِلُّ عُمرٌ مضَى
He told about you, my friend, years ago
ولمَّا ذكرتُكَ ؛ حَنَّ الفَضا
And when I mentioned you; nostalgia
ومُذْ لاحَ طَيفُكَ ، مُذْ أَوْمَضا
And since your spectrum, since you flashed
تجَلَّتْ بفِكْري بقايا السِّنينْ
The remains of the years manifested in my mind
بقلبي مَقامُكَ طُولَ المَدى
In my heart your place all the way
وإنْ مَرَّ ذِكرُكَ يومًا ؛ شَدا
And if your remembrance passes; sang
فلَنْ يَذهبَ الوُدُّ مِنَّا سُدى
Friendliness from us will not be in vain
سيَنمو ويَكْبُرُ في كُلِّ حِينْ
It will grow and grow all the time
سيَأبى الفِرَاقُ ويَحْنو الودَاعْ
Separation will refuse and bid farewell
ونَرجِعُ .. والسِّرُّ ليسَ يُذَاعْ
and we come back And the secret is not broadcast
فـ بَعدَ الفِرَاقِ: شَتَاتٌ ضَيَاعْ
After separation: a diaspora of loss
تعالَ لِنَحيا معًا .. آمِنينْ
Come to live together. Safe
بِفِكْرٍ شَغُوفٍ .. وقَلبٍ وَلُوعْ
